Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
1. About these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of CHANGISHA APP ("we", "us"), the online fundraising platform at changisha.co.tz. By creating an account, starting a campaign, registering an organisation or donating, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy below. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
2. What CHANGISHA does
CHANGISHA APP is a technology platform that lets individuals and organisations ("campaign owners") raise money from the public ("donors") by mobile money. We review campaigns and collect donations through licensed payment providers, then pay the money out to the campaign’s reviewed account.
We are not a bank, a charity or a party to the relationship between a donor and a campaign owner. A donation is a voluntary gift to the campaign owner or beneficiary — not a purchase, loan or investment.
3. Accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding agreement.
- Information you give us (name, phone number, NIDA and documents) must be true, complete and your own.
- Keep your password and phone secure. You are responsible for everything done through your account. Tell us immediately if you suspect misuse.
- One person may hold one personal account. Organisations are managed by an account manager authorised by their leadership.
4. Campaigns
- Campaigns must describe a real, lawful need honestly. You must not exaggerate, invent or copy a story, photo or document.
- Every campaign is reviewed before it can receive donations. We may ask for identity verification (NIDA, ID photo and selfie), a photo of the real situation, a letter from the local government leader, invoices, medical or school letters, or registration documents for organisations.
- Money raised must be used only for the purpose described. If the purpose changes, you must update the campaign and tell donors.
- We may decline, pause, edit the display of, or close any campaign, and withhold payouts, if information is missing, misleading or under investigation.
5. Organisations (NGOs)
Organisations must be legally registered in Tanzania and provide their registration certificate, TIN and a leadership letter authorising the account manager. A verified organisation gets a public page, an ongoing general fund and project campaigns. Organisation funds are paid only to an account in the organisation’s name. Changing the name, registration or payout account sends the organisation back for review.
6. Donations
- Donations are made by mobile money (M-Pesa, Mixx by Yas, Airtel Money, HaloPesa) and confirmed with your PIN on your own phone.
- You donate at your own discretion. We verify campaigns carefully but cannot guarantee how a beneficiary will ultimately use the money.
- Donations are generally non-refundable. If a donation was made by mistake (for example a duplicate charge) or a campaign is found to be fraudulent before payout, contact us within 30 days and we will review a refund of the amount we still hold.
- You may hide your name on the campaign page; we still keep the details needed for records and the law.
7. Fees
- Service fee: a platform fee of 5% plus the payment network cost (about 2.57%), added on top of the donation and shown to the donor before paying, so the campaign receives the full donation.
- Tip: optional, chosen by the donor.
- Withdrawal fee: TZS 1,500 per payout request; minimum withdrawal TZS 10,000.
- Opening an account and creating campaigns is free. We may change fees for future transactions by updating these Terms and the fees page.
8. Payouts to campaign owners
- Payouts are made only to the payout account reviewed for the campaign, and only after identity and campaign verification.
- Large amounts are paid in tranches of up to TZS 1,000,000; the next tranche requires receipts showing how earlier money was spent.
- We may delay or withhold a payout if we suspect fraud, receive a credible report, are required by law, or need more information.
- Amounts paid out are shown publicly on the campaign or organisation page.
9. Prohibited use
You must not use CHANGISHA APP for: fraud or false campaigns; money laundering or terrorist financing; anything illegal in Tanzania; gambling, weapons, drugs or political campaign financing; impersonating another person or organisation; harassment or hateful content; or interfering with the platform’s security. We cooperate with the authorities and may report suspicious activity.
10. Privacy Policy
We follow the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022 of Tanzania.
What we collect
- Account details: name, phone number, email and password (stored encrypted).
- Verification: NIDA number, ID photo, selfie and supporting documents — stored privately and visible only to you and our review team.
- Donations: donor name, phone number, amount, message and transaction references.
- Technical data: IP address, device and log information for security.
How we use it
- To run the platform, verify identities and campaigns, process donations and payouts, prevent fraud and meet legal duties.
- To send you service messages by SMS, WhatsApp or email (codes, receipts, campaign and payout updates).
Sharing
We share data only with service providers needed to run the platform (payment, SMS/WhatsApp and hosting providers), with authorities when required by law, and publicly only what a campaign page shows (campaign story, photos, donor names unless hidden, amounts). We never sell personal data.
Your rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, subject to records we must keep by law (for example transaction records). Contact us using the details below.
11. Suspension and closure
We may suspend or close an account, campaign or organisation page that breaks these Terms, puts donors at risk or is required to be closed by law. You may close your account by contacting us; money already raised is handled according to these Terms.
12. Limitation of liability
The platform is provided "as is". To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect losses, for the actions of campaign owners or donors, or for delays caused by payment networks or events outside our control. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. We will first try to resolve any dispute through discussion; if that fails, it will be handled by the competent courts of Tanzania.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. When we do, we change the effective date and ask signed-in users to accept the new version before continuing to use their account.
